The normative age for the reception of the sacraments of reconciliation and Eucharist in the Diocese of Greensburg is the second grade. It is the policy of Holy Trinity Parish that children must participate in an approved religious education program (Catholic school, religious education program, or approved home school program) during the first grade year in order to receive the sacraments in the second grade.

Immediate preparation for the sacraments must take place in the parish of registration. Here at Holy Trinity Parish that program is offered on Saturday mornings according to a calendar established by the parish education office and made available to families during the summer prior to preparation. The program consists of a parent meeting for each sacrament, and several meetings for parent and child for each sacrament. There is also a practice held the day before the reception of the sacrament of Eucharist.
