Religious Education
Religious Education is offered by Holy Trinity Parish for all children aged three through eighth grade. Students in ninth through twelfth grade are encouraged to participate in the parish youth ministry program.
Children pre-kindergarten to kindergarten
Children in pre-kindergarten and kindergarten meet during the 11:00 a.m. Mass on the first, second, fourth and fifth Sundays of the month in the kindergarten classroom of Holy Trinity School.
Registration is not required and there is no fee for this program. Children may begin participation at any time during the program, though regular attendance is encouraged.
Children first through eighth grade
Students in first through eighth grade meet on Monday evening from 7:00 to 8:15 p.m. Registration for the program is required and there is a registration fee to help cover the cost of program materials. The registration fee is currently $30 for one child in the program, $40 for two children in the program and $50 for three or more children in the program.
Registration materials are sent to all families who had children in the program the previous school year, or may be requested by calling the parish education office at 724-238-6341. The program meets from September through early May according to a calendar that is supplied with registration materials, and takes place in the classrooms of Holy Trinity Catholic School.
We are currently using the Pflaum Gospel Weeklies, and the accompanying grade specific catechism, as the approved text for our program. This is a lectionary based program that explores the Sunday readings as the basis for growing in faith. Our program is staffed by volunteer catechists who are in compliance with diocesan child safety requirements. Our staff of volunteers is also in the process of becoming certified in the diocesan Training and Certification Program.
Faith Formation in the Home Policy
The diocesan policy also allows an option for parents who choose to home school their children in Faith Formation. Please contact the parish education office at 724-238-6341 for more details if you are interested in this option, or learn more.
